Effective leadership has become much more challenging than it used to be in the past.  The environment has become much more demanding of ourselves and of all the employees in the organisation.  We are now competing in a global economy that asks us to be much more flexible and much more entrepreneurial than before.

Intrepreneurial Leadership is a leadership style that stimulates everyone to take up their role in the organisation and take up as much responsibility as possible.  It is about empowering employees to solve and take responsibility at their own level, to come up with creative ideas and implement them in order to create an extremely flexible and resourceful organisation that no longer hides behind company rules to escape responsability.  

It is about identifying with the organisation as your own, about being proud of it and about doing everything you can to protect the brand.  It is about you taking up full responsibilty for problems that arise, instead of saying, 'this is not my responsibility'.

A Project Leader does more than pray for a good outcome

A project leader doesn't have an easy life.  Against all odds and obstructions he/she needs to deliver his or her project at a certain deadline, without having the necessary hierarchical authority, without getting the recognition in the organization.  It often feels like an unfair fight, without clear agreements.  Facing sometimes impossible odds, being a project leader is more then hoping the project will come to a good end, more than hoping that the employees will loyally serve the team.  Being a project leader is highly underestimated.

Corporations work out projects to make their departments more successful.  Projects that focus on innovation and development of new products is the only way to build a sustainable future.  These temporary projects are executed in a project environment headed by a project leader and in collaboration with a team of temporary members, assigned to the project on a partial or full time basis.

Effective leadership today has become much more complex than it used to be in the past. We work in an international context with different cultures.  And whether we work in a virtual team or in a real team, the principles are still the same. 

The not understanding and taking into consideration of these sensitivities can give rise to huge conflicts, bad management and poor performance.   

The style of leadership in an Eastern culture or a Western culture is considerably different.  Even withing the same continent, differences can be considerable.  In Europe for instance, an employee from Italy expects a different style of leadership, compared to someone from Germany, or The Netherlands. 

Knowing how to effectively apply leadership with these people will have a considerable impact on your success in a new environment as a leader. 

Conflicts are of all times and only increase as our environment has become more complex and we've become more communicative.

An old Chinese saying goes like this 'choose the battles you can win and choose them wisely'.

Some conflicts are practically unsolvable and only lead to frustration and desperation.  Mediation in such conflicts only discredit your credibility and give you an important handicap towards future conflicts.  As in all important issues in life it is most important to know yourself first and know how to deal with conflict.  This workshop teaches you what kind of conflicts there are and how to address them.

It gives you an insight in the different conflict attitudes and ways to intervene.  It gives you insight into your own preference on how to deal with conflict and tells you how avoiding or how competitive you are during conflict.

Change - Marriage or Mourning process ?

Each entity, big or small, national or international, organization or person is currently subject to change.  The economic situation, technological advancement, globalization and strongly competing markets force us to have us step continuously into a change process.  This process consists of several steps, which each by their nature fulfill a complementary role in a succesful change process.

The timing of these different factors like the Acceptance of the necessity to change, Vision, Communication, Leadership is evenly important, if not the most important ingredient.

Change can be compared to a marriage or mourning process.

Either these different steps are properly prepared and we work towards a celebration, or, we suddenly arrive into an unexpected situation where mourning is the only way out.

Research has shown that the most common lack in a change process is the Change Management Plan or program in which the human aspect is the most important element.

Individual coaching is a way to grow 'in a safe way'.  It is wise to learn from your own mistakes, it is even wiser to learn from the mistakes of others.  

When taking up a new positon in your company or in dealing with a very difficult situation in your organisation, it is very beneficial and wise to have a sounding board that can help you develop the necessary qualities to deal with a situation much more effectively.

It is far more easy to cope with challenges when you have a sounding board.  It helps you gain so much time in what otherwise could be a very stressful learning experience.  It helps you put the situation into perspective as you learn how to deal with it.

The most successful people all have had their mentors and coaches along the way.  Some even have up to 10 different coaches, depending on their field of focus.  Coaching might be seen as 'expensive' but first figure out for yourself what it might cost you not to be coached and to make huge misakes as a part of your learning experience.  You'll very quickly see the trade-off.
